Is Suprel® medical fabric used for drapes?
Yes, DuPontTM Suprel® is an ideal fabric for drapes and is currently being offered by Medline as the OrthoMax drape. It offers good fluid repellency and splash resistance; is strong and tear-resistant; conforms easily; and features very high opacity.
How can you say that your new Suprel® fabric is more comfortable?
DuPont is a science company and we draw upon our rich heritage of scientific innovation when we develop new fabrics for the medical industry. But just as importantly, we’ve conducted extensive market research to help us better understand what comfort means to O.R. professionals.
What kind of market testing was used to develop Suprel®?
Input from O.R. nurses who participated in comfort studies conducted at North Carolina State University was used to develop new DuPontTM Suprel®. We have also conducted our own research with O.R. nurses to better understand what comfort means to them and what they want and need in medical fabrics for gowns and drapes.
I heard that the new DuPontTM Suprel® fabric is based on an Advanced Composite Technology. Can you explain what this is?
DuPont Nonwovens Advanced Composite Technology (ACT) is a versatile fabric technology that uses a bi-component formulation. More than 20 patents have been filed to date. This innovative technology enables DuPont to take advantage of the best properties of two different raw materials to create fabrics that meet specific marketplace needs. For example, new DuPontTM Suprel® is made with polyester for strength and polyethylene for softness, to create a unique fabric that delivers a high level of protection without compromising comfort. Using ACT, DuPont will be able to continue delivering innovative fabrics to help meet the evolving needs of the healthcare industry. This flexible technology platform offers exciting possibilities for future medical fabric developments.
When will I be able to order gowns of new DuPontTM Suprel® for my hospital?
